Adults: Be a COW Parents: Sign Up Your Children

Kids these days…

They face unique pressures and social forces that those of us who grew up in previous generations didn’t experience. From high-pressure sports to always-on social media, the social expectations for what success looks like keeps getting dialed up. Add to that a world that seems each day to devolve into more chaos – with headlines dominated by natural disasters, human conflict, and unending bitter acrimony – and a loss of meaningful social connection as everything becomes more digitized… it’s no wonder that anxiety rates are skyrocketing among today’s youth.

And yet, in spite of the bleak stats, as followers of Jesus, we do not believe this is the full story. We believe they are the generation born “for such a time as this.” We trust that God is molding and shaping each child in our church – each cooing infant, each busy little boy, each dramatic teen girl – into the kind of person who can love and serve God, wherever their life’s journey goes.

But to get there, they need us to be a great Cloud Of Witnesses (COW) on their behalf: cheering them on when things go well and encouraging them to keep going when the road ahead feels impossible. In all things, they need us to unceasingly pray for them.

Adults: When you sign up as a COW, you’re committing to praying for your assigned student by name and sending them a note in the mail once a month. For older kids, we’d love for you to connect with their parents and arrange to attend their theatre production or baseball game or awards ceremony.
