Christmas Eve Loose Offerings
Each year, any loose offerings (or designated checks) collected on Christmas Eve are distributed to a local ministry. This year, the offerings will go to Leslie’s Place. Lee Wood shared the following:
Leslie's Place was born out of an idea my wife, Leslie, had while she was battling COVID in December 2020. She passed away on January 18, 2021. Her idea was to provide a place where people in our community who did not have medical insurance coverage could seek out medical help instead of going to the ER waiting room and waiting several hours to see a doctor.
Tricia, Michie, and myself worked to bring her idea to life in January 2022. With the cooperation of Texas Tech Medical School and their physicians and medical students, Casa de Amigos, and the Midland Area Foundation, and support from a few private donors, Leslie's Place was born in September 2022. At first we saw one or two patients a night on the two nights a week we were open. This year we will see close to 2,000 patients; an average of around 20 patients each night we are open.
Leslie's Place is housed in the Casa de Amigos building off of Lamesa Rd. As the New Year begins, we look forward to continuing to serve the uninsured citizens of our community. On behalf of those who make Leslie's Place work, the supporters and my family, we appreciate the financial support of First Presbyterian Church of Midland.
