Favorite things about First Pres

Growing up in the Presbyterian tradition, I feel at home at First Pres of Midland. I enjoy the sermons, and I especially love the string instruments and piano/organ in the traditional service. Working here has been wonderful. The people I work with are great, and everyone is always willing to help one another.

What do you hope for First Pres ?

I hope First Pres will continue being a leader in the community with missions and outreach. I hope we will continue to be an open door to all people, and that everyone will feel as welcome here as I do.

Biography

I moved to Midland from Fort Worth after marrying my husband, Matthew McCord, who has lived here for about eight years. I’m originally from Vernon, Texas, but moved to Fort Worth in 2006 to attend college. After receiving my license in professional counseling, I worked at a behavioral health hospital and eventually a nonprofit child and family agency for a number of years. I enjoy working with others and learning from people with different life experiences.

My husband and I appreciate the slower pace of Midland, and I feel fortunate to live in such a close-knit community. I look forward to meeting more new faces and continuing to learn about all the wonderful nonprofits and projects made possible by the generosity of Midlanders.
