Soul Care Cohort

“What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” - Jesus (Matthew 16:26)
Is it well with your soul? The English phrase “care of souls” has its origins in the Latin cura animarum. While cura is commonly translated “care,” it contains the idea of both care and cure. Care refers to actions designed to support the well-being of something or someone. Cure refers to actions designed to restore the well-being that has been lost (David Benner). Most of us need both care and cure. Pastor Steve will lead a four week cohort with focus on our souls.
This cohort may be for you if:
You notice that you are “going through the motions” of the Christian life, but don’t have a sense that you are growing and feel a sense of boredom or apathy.
You “meet yourself coming and going” as we say, rushing from one thing to the next without time to really pay attention to what’s going on in and around you. You are bereft of the experience of knowing and being known.
There’s a nagging sense that something is not quite right, but you’re not able to take the time or make the effort to look into it – and you may not know how.
You find yourself regularly giving in to “escape” behaviors – mindless TV viewing, scrolling on social media, shopping/spending, substance abuse, etc.
The cohort will be limited to 20 participants who can pledge to be present at least 3 of the four weeks. The cohort will meet on Sundays during the 10:10 hour. The dates are October 19, 26 and November 9 and 16. Please sign up here!
