MINISTRIES

Prayer Ministry

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. -Matthew 6:6 (King James Version)

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PRAYER

FACES OF CHILDREN:  This ministry mobilizes the church to meet the needs of children through intercessory prayer and tangible acts of service, showing all children their inherent value and the unconditional love of God.  For more information, contact Carrie at 684-7821.

PRAYER CLOSET:  The Prayer Closet is located in the Commons beside the Library.  It is OPEN to ALL! Please feel free to come in, close the door, and pray!  No reservation is needed—the Lord loves to hear from His children!!  For more information, contact Rachal at 684-7821.

PRAYER EMAIL LIST: This is an email sent on weekdays from the church listing prayer concerns.  If you have a prayer concern, please contact Rachal at 684-7821.

PEW TO PULPIT PRAYER CARDS: These are small purple cards located in the black folders on the back of each pew in the Sanctuary.  If you have a prayer concern, please fill out the card and drop it in the Offering plate.

PRAYER POSTCARDS:  These are large postcards filled with Scripture available to the congregation.  This is a wonderful way to lift up those in need of prayer.  These postcards are located on the tables in the Foyer of the Sanctuary. Please take as many postcards as you want and bless those in need!

PRAYER PARTNERS:  Having a Prayer Partner to pray with on a regular basis is a meaningful way to grow into a deeper in relationship with the Lord.  Ask a friend to meet you in the Prayer Closet for prayer time—it will become a holy habit you will love!

MHS TEACHER PRAYER LUNCHEON: This is a luncheon provided by FPC on the second Tuesday of each month in Lynn Hall.  The teachers enjoy the fellowship and food while listening to a short devotional.  They are invited to list their prayer concerns and members of our church have the privilege of praying for them!  Opportunities for personal prayer are provided during the lunch.   If you would like to be a part of this ministry, contact Rachal at 684-7821.

PRAYER CLOSET MINISTRY:  This ministry is dedicated to praying for First Presbyterian Church.  They strive to have one person each weekday praying for those in leadership, for the congregation, and for the concerns listed on the Prayer Email List.  They pray for the requests listed on the “Pew to Pulpit” cards, the MHS teacher and student prayer request cards, and any other prayer concerns that find their way into the Prayer Closet.  They send Prayer Cards to those in need.  If you would like to be a part of this ministry, contact Rachal at 684-7821.

FIRST THURSDAY PRAYER: On the first Thursday of each month, there will be a group gathered in the Prayer Closet to pray.  They consider it a privilege to pray for anyone in need of prayer.  Please feel free to come by between 12:00-1:00 if you would like prayer.  If you would like to be a part of this ministry, contact Rachal at 684-7821.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY:  This ministry meets weekly on Thursday, and is open to all who enjoy needlepointing, knitting, and stitching!  They make prayer shawls that are prayed over and handed out to the sick and hurting.  If you would like a shawl for yourself, know someone who would like one, or would like to participate in this ministry, contact Rachal at 684-7821.

PRAYER WALK MINISTRY:  This ministry meets quarterly to pray.  They walk throughout the church, praying in each and every room for those that will be engaged in worship, prayer, and service in this place and to the ends of the earth!  If you would like to be a part of this ministry, contact Rachal at 684-7821.

WHOLENESS AND HEALING PRAYER SERVICE:  These church services are offered periodically for prayer, laying on of hands, and anointing with oil.  If you would like prayer for yourself or know someone that would like prayer, please contact Rachal at 684-7821 to find out when the next service will be.
